Full job description

Senior Staff Software Engineer role reporting to SVP of Engineering. Responsible for shaping technical strategy across engineering organization, defining standards and patterns, tackling complex technical challenges, and influencing organizational technical decisions. Lead design and delivery of complex initiatives, establish engineering standards, mentor engineers, evaluate technology choices, align technical strategy with business goals, and improve system reliability and scalability. Requires deep expertise in multiple technology domains, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), large-scale distributed systems, and strong communication skills. Experience with Go or Java, Kubernetes, Terraform, AI tools, and platform engineering preferred. Background in Ad Tech, Retail Media, e-commerce, real-time bidding, or high-throughput data pipelines is desirable. What you'll do

  • Define and drive technical strategy across multiple domains and teams
  • Lead the design and delivery of the most complex, high-impact technical initiatives
  • Establish engineering standards, patterns, and practices adopted organisation-wide
  • Mentor Staff and Lead engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence
  • Evaluate and recommend technology choices and platform investments
  • Partner with engineering leadership to align technical strategy with business objectives
  • Drive improvements to system reliability, scalability, and operational excellence
  • Represent the organisation's technical capabilities in cross-functional and external forums

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in multiple technology domains (frontend, backend, infrastructure, data)
  • Experience with Cloud Computing infrastructure and architecture (e.g. AWS/Google Cloud)
  • Extensive experience designing and evolving large-scale distributed systems
  • Proven track record of driving technical strategy across multiple teams
  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience influencing engineering culture, standards, and technical decision-making at an organisational level
  • History of successfully delivering complex, cross-cutting initiatives from conception to production
  • Champion and model adoption of AI tools across the organisation
  • Experience designing systems for high availability and global scale (highly regarded)
  • Experience with platform engineering and developer experience at an organisational level (highly regarded)
  • Experience with technical due diligence, architecture reviews, or advisory roles (highly regarded)
  • Track record of mentoring engineers into Lead and Staff roles (highly regarded)
  • GCP experience (highly regarded)
  • Deep expertise with Go or Java (highly regarded)
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform or other IaC frameworks (highly regarded)
  • Desirable background in Ad Tech, Retail Media, e-commerce, or recommendation systems
  • Experience with real-time bidding, auction systems, or high-throughput data pipelines
  • Contributions to open-source projects or technical publications
