Full job description

Nexxen is hiring a mid-level full-time engineer for a hybrid role based in Bellevue, Washington. The role involves working on a high-throughput ad exchange stack including a Node.js real-time bidder, a throttling layer, large-scale SQL data pipelines, and applied machine learning models. Candidates should be strong generalists with backend programming and distributed systems expertise, fluent or eager to become fluent in SQL, and comfortable using AI coding tools. Experience with AdTech, RTB, low-latency systems, columnar databases, A/B testing, or ML tooling is a plus. Responsibilities include developing the bidder and throttling layers, aggregating traffic data, and applying machine learning to optimize bidding decisions. What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain the real-time bidder (Node.js) that decides which ad requests to forward to demand partners with near-zero latency
  • Build and maintain the throttling layer that acts on bidder decisions
  • Aggregate traffic performance data and produce the throttle layer bridging analytics and the live bidder
  • Work with SQL on billions of bid requests and impressions to support research
  • Apply machine learning models to rank request features predicting bids and convert findings into real-time rules for the bidder

Requirements

  • Strong generalist comfortable with unfamiliar systems
  • Ability to write and reason about production code with attention to performance and correctness
  • Expertise in at least one backend programming language and distributed systems
  • Fluent or eager to become fluent in SQL and working with large datasets
  • Curiosity to ask 'why is this like this?' and investigate deeply
  • Experience with AdTech / RTB, real-time or low-latency systems, columnar databases, A/B testing, or ML tooling (preferred but not required)
  • Fluency in using AI coding tools as a serious part of development workflow
