Full job description

Senior Software Engineer role at Nexxen SSP team building a high-throughput SSP processing hundreds of billions of real-time ad requests daily. Responsibilities include owning complex initiatives end-to-end, applying AI-first mindset to development, integrating with DSPs, SSPs, third-party data providers and standards (OpenRTB, VAST), building low-latency services with caching and in-memory stores (Redis, Kafka, Aerospike), applying SRE practices, mentoring, resolving performance bottlenecks, driving testing and automation, and collaborating with product, ops, and engineering teams. Requirements include BS/MS in Computer Science or related field (preferred), 5+ years expert-level JavaScript/Node backend experience at scale, strong distributed systems knowledge, fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, systems design, hands-on with distributed databases and streaming pipelines, strong SQL, Linux, networking, Git skills, mentorship experience, test-first mindset, excellent communication, and preferred AdTech industry experience. The position is full-time, hybrid (3 days/week in office), located in Bellevue, Washington. Salary range $180,000 - $200,000 with potential bonuses. What you'll do

  • Own complex initiatives end-to-end: design, implementation, integration, rollout, and operation
  • Apply an AI-first mindset to software development and data exploration
  • Integrate with DSPs, SSPs, third-party data providers, and standards such as OpenRTB and VAST
  • Build high-throughput, low-latency services with efficient caching and in-memory stores (Redis, Kafka, Aerospike)
  • Apply an SRE mindset: observability, incident response, capacity planning, and shared on-call pager rotation
  • Raise the technical bar through code review, mentorship, and process/tooling decisions
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in systems processing billions of transactions per day
  • Drive test, monitoring, and automation coverage, including load and acceptance testing
  • Partner with product, ops, and engineering teams to shape roadmap and architecture

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
  • 5+ years of expert-level JavaScript/Node backend experience at scale
  • Strong grounding in distributed systems: scaling, fault tolerance, caching, load balancing
  • Solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and systems design
  • Hands-on experience with distributed databases (Aerospike, Redis) and streaming pipelines (Kafka, Kinesis)
  • Strong SQL/RDBMS, Linux, networking, and Git skills
  • Track record of code review and mentorship
  • Test-first mindset with automated acceptance and load testing
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • AdTech industry experience strongly preferred
