Full job description

The Automotive Practice at Epsilon is seeking a senior Database Developer with 5-8 years of experience to work on a complex automotive CRM platform. The role requires expertise in Oracle PL SQL, PostgreSQL, API testing, and database programming, with additional knowledge of Unix programming and Python as a plus. Responsibilities include database environment setup, feature analysis and design, development, code reviews, mentoring a team of 3-4 developers, collaborating with QA and production support, troubleshooting, automation of operational tasks, and contributing to AI projects. The candidate should have strong skills in performance tuning, root cause analysis, full stack development, and migration strategies. Good communication skills and ability to work in distributed teams under tight deadlines are essential. A bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent is required.

What you'll do

  • Collaborate with developers, project managers, business analysts and users to conceptualize and develop software applications and enhancements
  • Assist in defining project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and time estimates
  • Define, develop, and document software objectives, requirements, deliverables, and specifications
  • Develop technical documentation for system components and implementation strategies
  • Assign work, provide guidance, and review team members’ work
  • Collaborate with QA to define test cases and resolve test result questions
  • Recommend business process improvements and communicate problem resolution
  • Develop and implement solutions per policies and procedures
  • Administer project documentation
  • Perform root cause analysis and guide team on solutions
  • Work with multi-functional teams to resolve complex incidents and problems
  • Identify areas for policy and procedure improvements
  • Update/create Knowledge Base Articles and case studies
  • Assist in Knowledge Management improvements
  • Drive end-to-end quality delivery and be responsible for team deliverables
  • Setup/configure database environment
  • Analyze and design new/enhanced features per business requirements
  • Communicate with QA, product, and production support teams to deliver features and address issues
  • Develop features as per design
  • Assist production support team with troubleshooting
  • Develop automation for operational tasks
  • Assist with reporting tasks
  • Contribute to AI projects

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of development experience
  • Excellent skills in Oracle PL SQL and database programming
  • Excellent programming skills in PostgreSQL
  • Good knowledge of API testing using Postman or other tools
  • Basic knowledge of DBA activities to troubleshoot session or table locks
  • Knowledge of Unix programming and Python is a plus
  • Experience with analysis, design, development, testing and implementation
  • Ability to do complex design and high-performance architecture
  • Ability to function as full stack developer
  • Ability to mentor and coach a team of 3-4 developers
  • Excellent impact-analysis and root cause analysis skills
  • Experience in performance tuning, application monitoring and production support
  • Ability to define and implement migration strategies from legacy systems
  • Ability to work in geographically distributed teams
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritize tasks
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to design flexible and extensible systems with code reuse
  • Experience writing detailed technical specifications and test plans
  • Familiarity with Application Development Life Cycle
  • Knowledge of AI tools for debugging, troubleshooting and development
  • AI architectural understanding and prompting skills is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
