Full job description

The Trade Desk is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect, design, develop, and optimize deployment automation tools and frameworks for microservices on Kubernetes. Responsibilities include developing internal tools such as CLIs, dashboards, and automation bots, collaborating with engineering teams on scalable deployment strategies, implementing monitoring and alerting systems using Prometheus and Grafana, improving onboarding and deployment processes, producing technical documentation, leading training, partnering with SRE, Infrastructure, Security, and Kubernetes teams, evaluating new technologies, and mentoring junior engineers. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, 6 years of relevant experience, 5 years with design patterns and software architecture, 5 years with C#, Java, C, C++, or SQL, 3 years with Docker, 2 years with Kubernetes and CI/CD, and 1 year with ArgoCD. The role is full-time, hybrid (telecommuting permitted within commuting distance of Bellevue, WA office), with a salary range of $212,202 to $274,700 per year. What you'll do

  • Architect, design, develop, and optimize deployment automation tools and frameworks for microservices on Kubernetes
  • Develop and maintain internal tools including CLIs, dashboards, and automation bots to streamline deployment workflows
  • Lead collaboration with engineering teams to design scalable deployment strategies and simplify Kubernetes deployment processes
  • Design and implement monitoring, alerting, and health-check systems using Prometheus, Grafana, and related technologies
  • Drive improvements in onboarding and deployment processes ensuring consistency, security, and ease of use
  • Produce technical documentation and lead knowledge-sharing sessions and training workshops
  • Partner with SRE, Infrastructure, Security, and Kubernetes platform teams to evolve deployment tooling and enhance developer experience
  • Evaluate and prototype emerging technologies and frameworks for deployment automation and developer tooling
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior engineers, including feedback and career development reviews

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 6 years of experience in the job offered or related role
  • 5 years of experience with design patterns and software architecture design patterns
  • 5 years of experience with one or more of: C#, Java, C, C++, SQL
  • 3 years of experience with Cloud Computing/Virtualisation environments including Docker
  • 2 years of experience with Kubernetes and CI/CD
  • 1 year of experience with ArgoCD
