Full job description
The Senior Revenue Accountant will support revenue accounting in Los Angeles or Ventura, California, focusing on revenue recognition (ASC 606), compliance with US GAAP, and accurate revenue reporting for financial statements. Responsibilities include managing monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, deferred revenue and reserves accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, audit support, variance and financial analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Requirements include a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred, 2+ years accounting experience including public accounting or public company experience, knowledge of US GAAP and SOX controls, proficiency in Excel formulas, strong communication and analytical skills, and ERP experience (Oracle Cloud preferred). What you'll do
- Participate in monthly, quarterly, and year-end global revenue accounting close process
- Own specific areas of revenue accounting with accountability for accurate and timely close deliverables
- Perform end-to-end close activities for deferred revenue and/or reserves/allowance including journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintenance of key workbooks
- Ensure adherence to GAAP, internal controls, and SOX requirements
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal and external audits
- Perform detailed variance analysis, fluctuation analysis, and ad hoc financial analysis
- Provide actionable insights to management for informed decisions
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure accurate transactions and processes
- Identify efficiencies in accounting processes and support ongoing process improvements and ad-hoc projects
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred
- 2+ years of accounting experience, including public accounting and/or public company industry experience
- Revenue Accounting (ASC 606) experience is a plus
- Knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Strong knowledge of GL operational accounting is a plus
- Experience with SOX controls and audit processes, including maintaining documentation and supporting audits
- Proficiency in Excel with strong understanding of formulas such as XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF, VLOOKUP, CONCATENATE
- Strong communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and non-accounting stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with an ERP system (Oracle Cloud experience a plus)
