Senior Quality Engineer role at Smartly to define and scale quality standards across Product & Engineering. Collaborate closely with engineering leadership and teams to implement modern quality practices, leveraging AI and self-service tools. Requires 7+ years in Quality Engineering, Software Engineering, or Developer Experience, strong relationship-building skills, autonomy, and hands-on experience with TypeScript, Playwright, GitHub Actions, SQL databases, and LLMs. Hybrid work model based in Helsinki office 3+ days per week. Responsibilities include partnering with engineering teams, championing quality tools, packaging best practices, and analyzing quality metrics. What you'll do

  • Build deep working relationships with Engineering Managers and leadership to champion engineering excellence
  • Partner with engineering teams by pairing on active tasks to deliver fast with predictable quality
  • Champion self-service quality tools and guardrails for seamless integration into daily operations
  • Package best practices into robust self-service quality tools and frameworks
  • Analyze quality indicator metrics to identify trends and translate data into actionable insights

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Software Engineering, or Developer Experience (DevEx)
  • Proven track record of leading cross-team initiatives and driving process improvements through collaboration
  • Ability to build strong relationships with Engineering Managers and influence the product organization
  • Highly autonomous and persistent, comfortable operating in a small team
  • Hands-on experience with modern tech stacks (TypeScript, Playwright, GitHub Actions, SQL databases)
  • Strong familiarity with utilizing LLMs to accelerate development workflows and coaching others on AI usage
  • Comfort with rapid discovery and prototyping mindset
  • Ability to work hybrid from Helsinki office 3 days a week or more
