Full job description

Senior Engineering Manager role leading a data-platform engineering team focused on building scalable, secure, and reliable data-intensive platforms. Responsibilities include leading technical strategy, architecture, delivery, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with global stakeholders. Requires 12-16 years software engineering experience with 3-4+ years managing large data engineering teams. Expertise in Databricks, Python, PySpark, Apache Spark, AWS cloud services, real-time data streaming technologies, relational and NoSQL databases, CI/CD and DevOps practices. Exposure to Generative AI technologies and experience with privacy-safe or cleanroom data platforms preferred. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field required. Location: Bengaluru, India.

What you'll do

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data-platform engineers
  • Own execution, delivery predictability, and technical quality
  • Lead organization-wide technical initiatives on performance, scalability, reliability, security, governance, and cost efficiency
  • Review and influence architectural decisions and establish engineering best practices and governance standards
  • Partner with global engineering, product management, architecture, and business stakeholders
  • Own end-to-end software development lifecycle including requirements, design, development, deployment, observability, and documentation
  • Mentor and guide senior and junior engineers fostering innovation, accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence

Requirements

  • B.E/B.Tech/M.Tech/MCA in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • 12-16 years of software engineering experience
  • 3-4+ years managing and leading large scale data engineering teams
  • Experience leading high performing teams and mentoring engineers
  • Expertise in Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, Delta Lake architecture
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, Python, PySpark, Apache Spark
  • Working knowledge of TypeScript, Node.js, UX development
  • Strong expertise in AWS services (S3, Glue, Redshift, EMR, Athena, Lambda, EventBridge)
  • Experience with real-time and near real-time data streaming technologies (Kafka, AWS Kinesis, SQS, RabbitMQ)
  • Strong expertise in relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Aurora, RDS, MongoDB, DynamoDB)
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices and tools (Jenkins, GitHub/GitLab, Bitbucket, GoCD)
  • Proven ability to influence technical direction and lead complex engineering programs
  • Exposure to Generative AI technologies including LLMs, RAG architectures, Agentic AI systems
  • Experience designing and deploying AI-driven solutions
  • Nice to have: AWS and Databricks certifications, experience with Azure/GCP
  • Experience building data platforms in privacy-safe or cleanroom environments
