Full job description

Moloco seeks a senior Deal Desk owner embedded within the Controllership organization to manage complex, high-value commercial agreements ensuring revenue quality, audit readiness, and compliance with ASC 606. Responsibilities include decision-making on non-standard agreements, partnering with Sales, Legal, and Finance to structure compliant deals, performing accounting reviews and reconciliations, enforcing SOX controls, collaborating with revenue and AR teams, managing credit risk, improving workflows, and supporting audits. Requires 8+ years in public or technical accounting, deep ASC 606 knowledge, SOX experience, strong communication skills, and preferably Big Four or adtech experience. Location: Menlo Park, CA. Full-time role with comprehensive benefits and salary range $168,000 - $231,840 USD for this region.

What you'll do

  • Serve as primary Controllership decision-maker for all non-standard and high-value commercial agreements including trading agreements, rebates, payment term extensions, and ad credits
  • Provide clear approvals, risk assessments, and ASC 606 compliance determinations
  • Partner with Sales, GTM, Legal, and Finance to structure deals balancing commercial flexibility with revenue recognition compliance and profitability goals
  • Own end-to-end accounting review for revenue transactions including monthly reconciliations, unbilled revenue, rebates, performance guarantees, and incentive accruals
  • Enforce compliance with incentive policies, approval matrices, and SOX-relevant controls ensuring complete documentation
  • Collaborate with revenue and AR teams to ensure deal structures are operationally workable with clear invoicing logic and accounting treatments
  • Flag deals with elevated credit or collection risk and recommend mitigations
  • Identify opportunities to improve deal templates, tracking processes, and accounting workflows
  • Support internal and external audit requests and special projects

Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, revenue accounting, or technical accounting, ideally with exposure to a commercial or deal desk environment
  • Deep, applied knowledge of ASC 606 and ability to assess revenue recognition implications of complex contract structures including rebates, incentives, make-goods, and performance guarantees
  • Ownership reviewing and concluding on revenue-related journal entries and reconciliations
  • Ability to collaborate and influence cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, FP&A, and Technical Accounting
  • Experience supporting SOX controls and responding to internal and external audit requests related to revenue and commercial agreements
  • Strong written communication skills for drafting memos, approval rationale, and accounting position papers
  • Resilient and adaptable with ability to lead through ambiguity
  • Big Four experience preferred
  • Experience in adtech, media, or platform business with complex incentive and trading agreement structures is a plus
