Full job description

Smadex is seeking a Senior Machine Learning/Staff Engineer to lead architectural decisions and development of deep neural network algorithms. Responsibilities include developing new features, improving pipelines, deploying scalable data analytics and ML solutions, and collaborating with Tech and Ops teams. Candidates must have 5+ years in data science, strong coding skills in Python, Scala, Java, experience with high-performance algorithms, statistical techniques, data mining, predictive modeling, version control (Bitbucket/Git), SQL, and excellent communication skills. Fluency in English and mentoring ability required. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Computer Science, experience with data visualization tools, digital marketing platforms, Apache Spark, AWS services, and Linux environments. The role offers a hybrid work model with 2 days remote per week, private health insurance, LinkedIn Learning access, meal vouchers, gym allowance, and a collaborative work environment in Barcelona.

What you'll do

  • Participate in all major architectural decisions and developments on algorithms, especially deep neural network algorithms
  • Develop new features, measure performance and improve pipelines
  • Combine roles of ML Scientist and Data Engineer
  • Research, design, implement, and deploy full-stack scalable data analytics and machine learning solutions
  • Work closely with Tech and Ops teams
  • Work on unique modeling challenges like extreme positive sample sparsity and labeling delay
  • Analyze data from different sources and provide actionable insights to business and engineering stakeholders

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Data science positions
  • Very strong coding ability: Python, Scala, Java
  • Proficiency in building high-performance algorithms in production
  • Proficiency in solving problems
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical significance tests)
  • Experience in data mining and predictive modelling: deep neural networks, logistic regression, clustering and time series analysis models
  • Knowledge of Bitbucket/Git version tools
  • Experience working with SQL and data warehousing
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Able to mentor other team members
  • Fluency in English
