Full job description

This senior full-time DevOps role supports the MNTN platform and engineering teams. Responsibilities include designing and managing infrastructure on Google Cloud (GKE) and other clouds using Kubernetes, building platform capabilities and self-service tooling, automating infrastructure with GitOps principles, managing CI/CD pipelines (ArgoCD, Argo Rollouts, Argo Workflows, GitHub Actions), partnering with engineering to define scalable and cost-efficient infrastructure, monitoring cloud spend and optimizing costs, improving observability and incident response, and implementing cloud security and compliance best practices. Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering with strong production experience in GCP and Kubernetes, proficiency in Python and Typescript scripting, expertise in Terraform/OpenTofu, and familiarity with multi-cloud deployments, microservices, and containerization. Strong communication and documentation skills are required. The position is located in Austin, Texas.

What you'll do

  • Design, provision, and manage infrastructure primarily on Google Cloud (GKE) and other cloud environments with Kubernetes as the core platform abstraction
  • Work directly with engineering counterparts on the design and implementation of cloud-based infrastructure solutions
  • Build platform capabilities, internal developer portal components, and self-service tooling to reduce friction for engineers and standardize production services
  • Design and build automations and infrastructure tooling with GitOps principles integrating with APIs, cloud SDKs, and Kubernetes components
  • Create and manage CI/CD pipelines (e.g., ArgoCD, Argo Rollouts, Argo Workflows, GitHub Actions) ensuring safe, observable, and repeatable deployments
  • Partner with engineering teams to define scalable infrastructure patterns, reusable modules, and cost-efficient solutions
  • Monitor infrastructure spend and contribute to cost analysis, optimization, and FinOps practices
  • Improve observability, alerting, SLOs, and runbooks to strengthen reliability and incident response
  • Implement cloud security and compliance best practices including IAM design, workload identity, secrets management, and container security standards

Requirements

  • 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering with strong production experience in GCP and Kubernetes (GKE)
  • Experience with additional cloud providers is a plus
  • Proficient in using AI tools to accelerate research and coding workflows with critical evaluation skills
  • Strong automation skills, programming and scripting in Python and Typescript
  • Proven experience operating Kubernetes in production including Helm, ArgoCD, operators, Kustomize, networking, autoscaling, and RBAC
  • Deep expertise in Terraform / OpenTofu and infrastructure-as-code best practices; experience designing reusable modules and managing multi-environment deployments
  • Hands-on experience supporting hybrid or multi-cloud deployments
  • Solid understanding of cost modeling, tagging strategies, and cloud cost optimization techniques
  • Familiarity with microservices architectures, service discovery, and containerization workflows
  • A platform mindset focused on improving developer velocity and system reliability
  • Strong communication skills and clear, useful documentation habits
