Full job description

Lead technical decisions and act as primary technical contact for backend development using .NET/C# and Microsoft SQL Server technologies. Manage full software development lifecycle including design, development, testing, and release. Ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable backend solutions with optimized data flows. Own complex feature delivery and solve architectural challenges, especially with SQL Server and integration services. Conduct code reviews, enforce standards, run technical meetings, and promote best practices. Mentor developers and support onboarding. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients. Required skills include .NET Core, SQL Server (SSIS, SSRS), PowerShell scripting, Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence), Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe), strong leadership, communication skills, and fluency in English. Position is full-time with hybrid work model based in Lisbon, Portugal.

What you'll do

  • Lead technical decisions for new features, improvements, and architectural evolution
  • Act as primary technical point of contact balancing client and internal demands
  • Contribute across full SDLC: requirements, design, development, testing, documentation, release
  • Ensure scalable, secure, maintainable, high-quality backend solutions and optimized data flows
  • Own complex feature delivery and solve technical and architectural challenges especially with SQL Server and integration services
  • Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, promote best engineering practices
  • Run technical ceremonies and manage project workflows
  • Identify and execute technical enablers and proof-of-concepts for innovation
  • Monitor system health, analyze performance, support non-functional testing and automation
  • Mentor developers, lead training sessions, support onboarding
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, IT teams, and external partners

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on expertise in .NET / C# (.NET Web API, .NET Web Apps, and modern .NET Core versions)
  • Deep knowledge of the Microsoft SQL Server stack, including advanced SQL querying, SSIS, and SSRS
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell
  • Experience with the Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence) for project tracking, documentation, and workflow management
  • Solid experience in debugging, database performance optimization, and application security best practices
  • Experience designing and maintaining scalable backend systems, APIs, and data integration pipelines
  • Comfortable working in Agile environments (Scrum, SAFe)
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capability
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills
  • Highly autonomous and proactive problem-solver
  • Fluent English (spoken & written)
