Full job description

Microsoft AI is seeking a Senior Content Designer to develop AI-driven experiences for the Copilot personal AI companion. The role involves defining content design approaches, writing prompts and evaluations, crafting user-centric narratives, and ensuring clarity, accessibility, and inclusivity in language across Copilot interfaces. Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify user needs, improving AI-generated content quality, evolving tone of voice and product narrative, creating content design standards, conducting content audits, prioritizing content design projects, and advocating for inclusive language. Candidates must have a relevant degree with 2+ years (Master's) or 3+ years (Bachelor's) experience in product or service design or equivalent experience, a portfolio demonstrating 6+ years of content design ownership, strong content design skills, prompt engineering knowledge or interest, user-centered design expertise, ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment, collaboration skills, and knowledge of accessibility and localization best practices. The position is full-time, on-site in Mountain View, California, requiring presence in office 4 days a week. Salary ranges from USD 119,800 to 234,700 annually, with higher ranges for San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

What you'll do

  • Identify user needs and define end-to-end user journeys for AI user experiences in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Write prompts and eval outputs to improve AI-generated product copy quality and alignment with tone of voice
  • Craft clear, user-centered content for AI user experiences using user research and data
  • Define and evolve tone of voice, personality, and product narrative for Copilot across product content and model responses
  • Create content design standards and frameworks to scale the function and inform the design system
  • Lead and action product content audits to ensure consistency and alignment with Copilot’s tone of voice
  • Evaluate and prioritize content design work focusing on highest-impact projects
  • Advocate for inclusive and accessible language across all touchpoints

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Arts, Humanities, Digital Communications, UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field AND 2+ years experience working in product or service design OR Bachelor's Degree in related field AND 3+ years experience in product or service design, copywriting, technical writing, brand design, or brand marketing OR equivalent experience
  • Portfolio or work samples demonstrating at least 6 years of experience owning content design for world class consumer products from vision through launch
  • High craft in content design work with ability to articulate strategy and translate it into polished finished product
  • Experience with or strong drive to learn prompt engineering and evals
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing requirements in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to collaborate and contribute to a positive, inclusive work environment
  • Knowledge of accessibility and localization best practices
