Full job description

Senior Backend Engineer role at Smartly in Mexico City. Responsibilities include owning platform integrations, designing and building data-intensive microservices, collaborating with cross-functional teams, facilitating team activities, and mentoring engineers. Requires experience with Node.js and TypeScript, building complex distributed web applications, strong collaboration and coaching skills, and ability to work on-site 3 days per week. The role is full-time and hybrid. The backend stack focuses on scalable, reliable infrastructure and AI-driven workflows.

What you'll do

  • Have end-to-end ownership of a new platform integration
  • Design, build and monitor data-intensive microservices systems
  • Collaborate closely with other engineers, product managers and designers to deliver cutting edge solutions for clients
  • Take part and facilitate team activities such as dailies, retros and brainstorming sessions
  • Coach and mentor other members of the team to follow best practices and industry standards

Requirements

  • Experience in backend development using modern technologies such as Node.js and TypeScript
  • Experience in building robust, complex and distributed web applications
  • Motivation for solving customers problems and delivering value to customers at a fast pace
  • Strong collaboration skills & ability to coach other engineers in the team
  • Able to work on-site at Mexico City office 3 days per week
