Teads is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with 5+ years of experience focused on backend development. The role involves designing, developing, and optimizing scalable backend algorithmic solutions in a high-traffic environment handling large-scale data and distributed systems. Candidates must have deep proficiency in Java, Scala, and Python, strong system design skills, and operational excellence in release management, observability, troubleshooting, and performance tuning. Responsibilities include collaborating with data scientists and product teams, ensuring backend systems are tested and monitored, and delivering high-impact business solutions. The position is full-time with a hybrid work model based in Netanya, Israel.

What you'll do

Design, develop, and optimize backend solutions that implement scalable, efficient algorithmic solutions
Solve complex performance and low-latency challenges for data-heavy, high-throughput distributed systems
Collaborate with data scientists, product, and other backend engineers to research, develop, and deploy end-to-end solutions that drive global business KPIs
Ensure that all backend systems are tested, optimized, and continuously monitored
Develop a strong understanding of the business to provide high-impact solutions to stakeholders

Requirements

5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on backend development
Deep proficiency in Java/Scala and Python
Operational excellence: release management, observability, troubleshooting, and performance tuning in production
Strong foundation in system design, working with large-scale, high-throughput, distributed systems
Experience processing and analyzing large-scale data
Analytical and experimental mindset – validate ideas with data before investing heavily in development
Commitment to quality: clean, performant, and thoroughly tested code
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
