Full job description

Senior Account Director role focused on Digital Transformation within Merkle’s Account Management. Hybrid position based in Detroit, MI, reporting to VP, Group Account Director. Responsible for managing 1-3 digital transformation clients, ensuring relationship health, commercial performance, and client experience quality. Digital Transformation includes web/app experiences, front- and back-end development, UX, commerce platforms, and connected ecosystems. Requires fluency in digital solutions to lead client conversations and identify growth opportunities. Key duties include building trusted client relationships, identifying emerging needs, managing stakeholder alignment, owning commercial health including forecasting and scope monitoring, contributing to renewal and growth strategies, providing strategic direction to delivery teams, and coaching junior team members. Requires 10+ years in account management/client services in digital agency, consulting, or tech services; experience with digital transformation projects; strong commercial acumen; excellent communication and stakeholder management; proficiency in Salesforce or equivalent CRM; familiarity with content management or commerce platforms; and ability to develop junior talent. Salary range $119,000 - $158,750. Benefits include medical, vision, dental, life insurance, disability insurance, 401k, flexible PTO, paid holidays, sick leave, and parental leave. Employees within commutable distance expected to work onsite 3 days/week. Remote designation possible based on role and location.

What you'll do

  • Build and sustain trusted, multi-threaded client relationships
  • Understand client business models, competitive dynamics, and strategic priorities
  • Identify emerging client needs and flag risks early
  • Connect client challenges to Merkle capabilities and alliance partner solutions
  • Navigate complex stakeholder environments and manage alignment
  • Own commercial health of clients including revenue forecasting, scope monitoring, change order execution, and Salesforce accuracy
  • Contribute to renewal strategy and account growth planning
  • Provide strategic context to delivery teams translating client priorities into actionable direction
  • Develop and coach junior account team members

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in account management or client services within a digital agency, consulting firm, or technology services organization
  • Experience supporting or leading Digital Transformation engagements including web/app development, UX, commerce platforms, or enterprise technology implementations
  • Ability to discuss digital solutions credibly with client stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage and grow senior client relationships with client retention and organic account growth
  • Commercial acumen including revenue forecasting, scope and margin conversations, and financial mechanics of services engagements
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience partnering with Project Managers or Delivery leads on complex, multi-workstream engagements
  • Proficiency in Salesforce or equivalent CRM for pipeline management, forecasting, and account documentation
  • Familiarity with one or more leading content management and/or commerce platforms
  • Ability to develop junior talent and contribute to team culture
