The Sales Director is responsible for prospecting and closing sales in GumGum’s advertising platform within the New York region. This role requires managing a book of business, partnering with brands and agencies, identifying and qualifying sales opportunities, executing prospecting activities, upselling clients, cultivating professional relationships, providing client feedback to product teams, and collaborating with internal teams for campaign implementation. Candidates must have over 5 years of media sales experience, a proven track record managing a book of business exceeding $5.5M, strong communication skills, and proficiency in SalesForce, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Media, Marketing, or Advertising, experience with IPG agencies, and technical fluency in programmatic advertising. The position offers a hybrid work environment with a salary range of $143,000 to $169,500 annually, plus benefits including a 401(k) plan and potential bonuses or stock incentives.

What you'll do

  • Drive revenue and new business by managing a dedicated book of business within the New York region
  • Partner with brands and agencies to deliver advertising solutions tailored to their marketing goals
  • Identify and qualify opportunities generated through various marketing-led lead channels
  • Execute high-volume prospecting including cold calling, presentations, and responding to RFPs
  • Upsell existing clients on new products by providing strategic market insights
  • Cultivate deep professional relationships to gain insight into client business needs
  • Provide client feedback to internal product teams to improve service offerings and meet market demands
  • Collaborate with account managers and internal teams to ensure successful campaign implementation

Requirements

  • Proven track record managing a book of business exceeding $5.5M with history of hitting or surpassing revenue targets
  • Established network of brand and agency contacts within the New York region
  • Ability to navigate complex organizational structures to build long-term, high-value partnerships
  • Power-user of SalesForce for pipeline management and reporting
  • Expert in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Fundamental understanding of P&L, revenue drivers, and data-driven problem solving
  • Skilled at managing multiple stakeholders through complex internal and external challenges
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and organizational excellence
  • Bachelor’s degree in Media, Marketing, or Advertising preferred
  • Deep experience or existing relationships with IPG agencies preferred
  • Technical fluency in programmatic advertising environments preferred
  • 5+ years of proven experience in digital advertising sales (publisher or ad-tech preferred)
