Full job description

GumGum is hiring a Sales Director responsible for prospecting and closing sales in its advertising platform. The role reports to the Executive Group Sales Director for New York and focuses on developing key client relationships to drive value through GumGum products. Candidates must have over 5 years of media sales experience, a strong network in New York, and proficiency in SalesForce, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Responsibilities include managing agency partnerships, delivering tailored advertising solutions, qualifying leads, high-volume prospecting, upselling, client relationship management, providing feedback to product teams, and collaborating with internal teams. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Media, Marketing, or Advertising, experience with NY Indie Agencies or Holding Companies, and technical fluency in programmatic advertising. The position offers a hybrid work environment with a commutable distance to the office. Compensation includes a competitive base salary plus commission with an estimated OTE of $286,000 to $339,000 annually, employer-matched 401(k), and other benefits.

What you'll do

  • Generate growth and cultivate new opportunities by managing independent and network agency partnerships
  • Partner with brands and agencies to deliver advertising solutions tailored to their marketing goals
  • Identify and qualify opportunities generated through marketing-led lead channels
  • Execute high-volume prospecting including cold calling, presentations, and responding to RFPs
  • Upsell existing clients on new products by providing strategic market insights
  • Cultivate deep professional relationships to understand client business needs
  • Provide client feedback to internal product teams to improve service offerings
  • Collaborate with account managers and internal teams to ensure successful campaign implementation

Requirements

  • Proven track record managing a book of business with a history of hitting or surpassing revenue targets
  • Established network of brand and agency contacts within the New York region
  • Ability to navigate complex organizational structures to build long-term, high-value partnerships
  • Power-user of SalesForce for pipeline management and reporting
  • Expert in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Fundamental understanding of P&L, revenue drivers, and data-driven problem solving
  • Skilled at managing multiple stakeholders through complex internal and external challenges
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and organizational excellence
  • Bachelor’s degree in Media, Marketing, or Advertising (preferred)
  • Deep experience or existing relationships with NY Indie Agencies/Holding Companies (Havas or Dentsu a plus)
  • Technical fluency in programmatic advertising environments
  • 5+ years of proven experience in digital advertising sales (publisher or ad-tech preferred)
