Full job description

FreeWheel, a Comcast company, seeks a Python Software Engineer for the Buyercloud Ad Serving team. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and backend systems for real-time and batch processing. Responsibilities include building APIs, creating automation and monitoring tools, ensuring data quality and system performance, collaborating with teams, optimizing code, participating in the software development lifecycle, and documenting best practices. Candidates should have 3-5 years of software engineering experience, proficiency in Python and Snowflake, experience with ETL workflows, distributed systems, relational and NoSQL databases, monitoring and automation tools, and familiarity with CI/CD and containerization. Ad Tech or AI experience is a plus. The position requires working nights and weekends as needed. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is preferred. Salary range is $109,759.26 to $164,638.89. The role is remote with team members in multiple locations and is based in Chicago, Illinois.

What you'll do

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for real-time and batch processing
  • Build and enhance backend systems and APIs integrating with analytics platforms
  • Create automation tools and monitoring solutions for troubleshooting and operational efficiency
  • Ensure data quality, reliability, and system performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Optimize code and workflows for performance and maintainability
  • Participate in full software development lifecycle including code reviews, testing, deployment, and support
  • Document systems, processes, and best practices
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in significant matters
  • Work nights and weekends as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in software engineering
  • Proficient in Python, with strong programming and debugging skills
  • Proficient with Snowflake
  • Experience designing and maintaining data pipelines and ETL workflows
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, relational databases, and NoSQL technologies
  • Skilled in using monitoring and automation tools
  • Comfortable with CI/CD pipelines and containerization tools
  • Ad Tech and/or AI experience is a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of coursework and experience
