Principal Product Designer

What you'll do

• Ship world-class AI-powered experiences focusing on craft, quality, trust, and positive user and societal impact
• Stay aware of new AI technological innovations and integrate them into products and design practices
• Own user experience for a product area/domain, understand user needs and behaviors, define product requirements, and maintain strategic vision
• Collaborate with product leaders to manage end-to-end product development and maintain user experience quality
• Exhibit cross-functional communication, dependency management, scoping, and scheduling
• Overcome roadblocks to deliver work quickly and plan for continued iteration
• Raise the bar for excellence and product quality and drive accountability
• Work effectively in a fast-paced, design-driven product development cycle
• Partner with product teams to define goals and performance indicators, set up and oversee experiments, and evaluate effectiveness with data and research
• Collaborate and communicate clearly with cross-functional teams including product managers, engineers, sales, and other designers

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in product or service design OR Bachelor's Degree in the same fields AND 8+ years experience OR equivalent experience
• Portfolio demonstrating experience designing world class consumer products from vision through launch including designing with AI/code (vibe coding)
• Proven track record of setting design vision for innovative products requiring bold thinking and risk taking
• Experience prompting LLMs and working with generative AI
• Experience designing in code (vibe coding) to deliver prototypes quickly
• Prototype-level engineering experience with HTML/CSS/JavaScript or other languages such as Python (optional but meaningful)
• High craft in design work and ability to translate vision into polished design prototypes
• Ability to break large bodies of work into phased execution plans and lead cross-functional teams
• Ability to advocate for design thinking and influence design outcomes in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
• Experience identifying research needs and leveraging qualitative and quantitative signals for design direction
• Ability to own work in a start-up like environment managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing requirements
• Proven ability to collaborate and foster knowledge sharing and growth within the team
