Microsoft is seeking a Principal Corporate Counsel for the AI Experiences legal team to support AI-driven digital advertising, consumer services, and revenue priorities. The role involves advising on sales, operations, go-to-market strategy, commercial transactions, advertising, product development, privacy, data use, competition, marketing, and regulatory matters. Responsibilities include identifying legal and regulatory risks, managing outside counsel, drafting and negotiating agreements, advocating for Microsoft’s interests, participating in legal associations, improving legal service delivery, and collaborating across teams. Required qualifications include a J.D. or equivalent, 4+ years of relevant legal experience, and an active law license. Preferred qualifications include in-house counsel experience, knowledge of digital advertising/AdTech, monetization, privacy, and regulatory compliance. Salary ranges from $132,200 to $232,800 annually, with higher ranges in the San Francisco Bay and New York City areas. Locations include Redmond, WA; Mountain View, CA; Washington, DC; Atlanta, GA; New York, NY; and US-wide.

Identify and anticipate legal and regulatory risks in the client’s business, technology, and public policy, then develop solutions to mitigate any future risk

Requirements
J.D. or international equivalent degree
4+ years of experience as a practicing attorney supporting technology products, consumer online services, or AI offerings, including negotiating commercial transactions or equivalent experience
Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction
Preferred: 1+ year in-house counsel experience advising sales, go-to-market, product, engineering, or other client-facing teams
Experience with digital advertising/AdTech, monetization, privacy, data use, or regulatory compliance
Ability to manage multiple and varying mission-critical projects in a fast-paced environment
