Full job description

Samba is hiring a People Operations Generalist to support HR operations including onboarding, benefits administration, payroll coordination, HR documentation, HRIS reporting, and compliance. The role involves maintaining employee records, supporting HR processes, and ensuring efficient HR systems. Candidates should have 2-3 years experience in HR or People Operations, proficiency with HRIS platforms (Rippling, Workday, BambooHR), and skills in Google Sheets for data management. Responsibilities include managing employee lifecycle operations, benefits, payroll data coordination, document generation, employee inquiries, immigration compliance, and supporting HR initiatives. Preferred qualifications include HR certifications and experience in startup environments.

What you'll do

  • Support employee lifecycle operations including onboarding, offboarding, employment changes, and HR documentation management
  • Assist with benefits administration including employee enrollments, updates, vendor coordination, and open enrollment execution
  • Maintain and audit HRIS data integrity; run reports and support HR data tracking
  • Extract and organize HR data across platforms and manipulate datasets in Google Sheets
  • Partner with Payroll and Finance to ensure accurate employee data, compensation updates, and benefit deductions for payroll
  • Generate HR documents including employment letters, policy acknowledgements, onboarding materials, and manage electronic signature workflows
  • Serve as first point of contact for routine employee HR inquiries, providing guidance on policies, benefits, and processes
  • Coordinate immigration and visa documentation tracking, partnering with external counsel for compliance
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state (California), and local employment regulations and assist with HR recordkeeping
  • Support HR initiatives including performance cycles, engagement surveys, and employee programs
  • Help improve HR operational workflows by maintaining documentation and supporting scalable HR processes

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience in HR, People Operations, or HR Administration
  • Hands-on experience working with HRIS platforms such as Rippling, Workday, or BambooHR
  • Ability to navigate HR systems independently and generate basic reports
  • Comfortable working with HR data in Google Sheets
  • Experience supporting benefits administration, onboarding, payroll coordination, or HR documentation processes
  • Proactive and motivated with ownership of tasks and process improvement
  • Curious and eager to learn about HR systems and policies
  • Strong work ethic and accountability
  • Humble and team-oriented
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks accurately
