Full job description AppLovin seeks a Payroll Manager to lead global payroll operations for the US and key international markets including Singapore, Germany, Ireland, Cyprus, and Italy. The role involves managing end-to-end payroll processing, vendor relationships, payroll tax and statutory compliance, equity-related payroll events, and payroll systems and controls. The manager will partner cross-functionally with Finance, Accounting, HR, Tax, and Legal to ensure accurate, timely, and scalable payroll operations. Requirements include 6+ years payroll experience in multi-country environments, 2+ years in leadership, deep US multi-state payroll tax knowledge, hands-on payroll processing experience in at least two international jurisdictions, proficiency with Workday HCM or equivalent, strong Excel/Google Sheets skills, and experience with equity payroll transactions. Salary ranges from $103,084 to $173,250 depending on location.

Manage relationships with external payroll vendors and in-country service providers
Serve as primary contact for payroll-related matters across Finance, Accounting, HR, and Legal
Handle off-cycle payrolls, manual calculations, retroactive adjustments, and termination runs
Maintain knowledge of payroll tax obligations and statutory requirements in all covered jurisdictions
Ensure timely and accurate filing of payroll tax returns, year-end forms, and local employer statutory filings
Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and implement required changes proactively
Partner with Tax and Legal on cross-border employment structures, shadow payrolls, and treaty-related matters
Support external payroll audits, tax authority inquiries, and statutory inspections
Process and reconcile equity-related payroll events including RSU vesting, ESPP purchase cycles, NQ and ISO exercises
Ensure proper tax withholding and reporting for stock transactions across jurisdictions
Monitor integrations and manual processes between Workday HCM and payroll systems
Audit input data, validate outputs, and maintain internal controls around payroll authorization and data integrity
Support month-end close activities including payroll journal entries, headcount reconciliations, accruals, and benefits reconciliations
Identify and drive process improvements, automate where possible, document critical processes, and eliminate manual workarounds
Serve as trusted resource for HR/PeopleOps on payroll implications of compensation decisions, hires, LOAs, and terminations
Partner with Accounting Ops on payroll reconciliations and audit support
Respond promptly and clearly to employee escalations and payroll inquiries Requirements 6+ years of progressive payroll experience in a multi-country environment At least 2 years in a lead or manager capacity Deep working knowledge of US payroll tax (federal, state, local) with multi-state experience Experience with CA, NY, or WA payroll is a plus Hands-on experience processing payroll in at least two of the following: Singapore, Germany, Ireland, Cyprus, Italy Proficiency with Workday HCM/Payroll or equivalent global processor Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills Experience managing payroll tax filings, year-end reconciliations, and statutory reporting across multiple jurisdictions Experience processing equity-related payroll transactions (RSU, ESPP, NQ, ISO) in a public company environment Exceptionally detail-oriented with strong reconciliation instincts Clear, direct communicator able to explain complex payroll mechanics to non-payroll audiences Comfortable owning outcomes end-to-end in a lean, high-velocity environment Tech stack Workday HCM Cloudpay Excel Google Sheets NetSuite
