Full job description

Moloco seeks a Payroll Manager to lead end-to-end payroll operations for US and UK employees, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing. The role requires maintaining compliance with US federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and UK HMRC regulations, managing payroll discrepancies and audits, leading process improvements, ensuring SOX compliance, and staying current on payroll legislation. Candidates must have 6+ years of experience in global payroll operations, expert knowledge of US and UK payroll compliance, hands-on experience with Workday or similar HCM/payroll systems, and strong Excel skills. What you'll do

  • Own end-to-end payroll processing for US and UK employee populations ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Maintain compliance with US federal, state, and local payroll tax and reporting requirements
  • Maintain compliance with UK HMRC regulations, statutory reporting, and pension obligations
  • Serve as primary escalation point for payroll discrepancies, audits, and employee inquiries
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to increase payroll efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
  • Ensure proper internal controls, SOX compliance, and audit readiness for payroll processes
  • Stay current on evolving payroll legislation in US and UK

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience leading global payroll operations, preferably in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Experience managing multi-country payroll, with direct exposure to US and UK payroll cycles
  • Expert-level understanding of US federal, state, and local payroll compliance
  • Expert-level understanding of UK statutory compliance including PAYE, NIC, HMRC reporting, SSP, SMP/SPP, and pension auto-enrolment
  • Familiarity with UK year-end processes (P60, P11D, Final FPS) and IR35/off-payroll working rules
  • Hands-on experience with Workday or other large HCM/payroll systems; ADP Workforce Now and CloudPay preferred
  • Strong Excel/data analysis skills for reconciliations, reporting, and audits
  • Clear, concise communication skills to translate complex payroll regulations
  • Experience managing external vendor and advisor relationships in US and UK
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgment
  • Ability to identify compliance risks and recommend solutions
  • Detail-oriented with high accuracy and ability to manage multiple payroll cycles
  • High integrity and discretion handling confidential compensation and personal data
  • Adaptable and resilient in fast-paced, evolving environment
