Full job description

FreeWheel, a Comcast company, seeks a Manager, Software Engineering for the Buyercloud Ad Serving team. The role involves managing a software engineering team, collaborating with product management, guiding technical architecture and engineering practices, improving ad serving infrastructure, ensuring project deadlines and quality, providing technical support and training, and implementing performance metrics. Candidates should have 3+ years of technical leadership experience, 10+ years of software development experience, proficiency in distributed applications using C++, Java, Rust, or Go, experience with public cloud deployment, strong SQL skills, and familiarity with monitoring tools like Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack. The position requires working with remote teams across time zones and occasional night/weekend work. A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related field is preferred.

What you'll do

  • Manage a team of software engineers providing direction, guidance, and growth opportunities
  • Collaborate with BuyerCloud Product Management team to deliver new features
  • Provide guidance on technical architecture, design philosophies, and engineering practices
  • Drive improvements to Ad Serving software infrastructure
  • Ensure adherence to deadlines, specifications, and budgets
  • Review team members’ work to ensure quality to team standards
  • Provide technical support and training in Ad Serving capabilities
  • Implement and review employee performance metrics
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  • Work nights and weekends as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 3+ years related experience with technical leadership
  • 10+ years of overall software development experience
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Proficient in building distributed applications using object-oriented languages such as C++, Java, Rust, or Go
  • Experience in deploying and operating applications in a public cloud provider
  • Proficient in Jira, Confluence, Git, and MS Office products
  • AWS certification is a bonus
  • Strong SQL skills with hands-on experience
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack
