Full job description

Liftoff is seeking a senior Machine Learning Engineer for the Revenue Engine team to build statistical models and production systems that optimize advertiser performance and business goals. Responsibilities include tuning optimization parameters, running experiments, developing applications for budget retention and bidding innovations, collaborating with engineers and company peers, and communicating ML concepts effectively. Requirements include a PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Economics or related field, industry experience with large scale economics or ML problems, strong coding skills, and excellent communication. Experience in ad tech is a plus. This is a full-time remote role based in California with travel expected for quarterly in-person team gatherings. Compensation includes base salary ranging from $215,000 to $275,000 depending on location, equity, and benefits such as health, vision, dental, and wellness stipends.

What you'll do

  • Build statistical models and production systems to balance advertiser performance with business goals
  • Tune optimization parameters, measure internal competition, and model dynamic environments
  • Design and run experiments to validate theories underpinning the mobile ad tech economy
  • Develop applications in advertiser budget retention and growth, optimal margin allocation, and bidding innovations
  • Collaborate with engineers and peers across the company
  • Explain statistical and machine learning concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Participate in engineering excellence culture through tools, testing, explainable systems, and code review

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Economics, or a related field
  • Industry experience applying economics or machine learning to large scale problems
  • Solid engineering and coding skills
  • Excellent team communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with ad tech is a solid plus
