Full job description

Smadex, a leading ad-tech company in Barcelona, seeks a mid-level full-time Data Scientist with 3-5 years experience. The role involves maximizing advertiser ROI by selecting ads and computing optimal bids in a real-time bidding environment, developing machine learning models to predict user response and auction prices, and executing end-to-end ML projects. Candidates must have strong statistical knowledge, machine learning and predictive modeling experience, programming skills in Python (including pytorch, pandas, numpy), SQL, and Git, and excellent English communication skills. Extra points for experience with Apache Spark, Java/Scala, transformer architectures, LLMs, digital marketing platforms, and AWS services (SageMaker, EMR, EC2, Athena, S3). The position is hybrid with 2 days remote work per week, based in a penthouse office in Barcelona. What you'll do

  • Maximize advertisers return on ad spend by selecting the best ad and computing optimal bids for 4 million ad opportunities per second
  • Model challenges of Real Time Bidding environment such as predicting user response to ads and auction closing prices
  • Solve machine learning hurdles like extreme positive sample sparsity and labeling delay
  • Execute projects end-to-end: research, design, develop, and deploy full-stack ML solutions at web scale
  • Own the logic and implementation of ML solutions
  • Analyze data and evaluate improvements through model evaluation and AB test statistical significance
  • Contribute ideas and influence product roadmap decisions

Requirements

  • Proactive, autonomous, and results-oriented approach to problem-solving
  • Analytical mind with high attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong foundation in statistical concepts and techniques: regression, properties of distributions, statistical significance tests
  • Experience in machine learning and predictive modelling: neural networks, logistic regressions, gradient boosted trees, time series analysis
  • Good programming skills and familiarity with python and its libraries (pytorch, pandas, numpy)
  • Competence in data analysis with SQL and pandas
  • Familiarity with Git
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written in English
