Full job description

Ogury is seeking a mid-level Legal Counsel with 4+ years post-qualification experience to join their legal team in a hybrid role based in Barcelona or Madrid. The role reports to the General Counsel and involves providing legal advice on privacy and data protection (including GDPR, CCPA), commercial contracts, and corporate governance. Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating contracts, advising on compliance and risk management, supporting privacy governance, and collaborating cross-functionally with Commercial, Marketing, Product, and IT teams. Candidates must be qualified lawyers admitted to practice in a European jurisdiction with strong expertise in commercial contracts, data protection laws, and corporate governance. Excellent English communication skills are required; additional EU languages are a plus. What you'll do

  • Provide strategic and practical advice on global privacy and data protection laws including GDPR and CCPA
  • Lead reviews and negotiations of data processing agreements, privacy policies, and terms of service
  • Support implementation of privacy-by-design principles across products and services
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory developments and advise internal stakeholders on compliance
  • Partner with Compliance and Security teams to maintain privacy governance programs
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements including client, publisher, vendor, partnership, and technology licensing contracts
  • Provide risk-based legal advice aligned with business priorities and strategic goals
  • Develop and refine contract templates, playbooks, and negotiation guidelines
  • Collaborate with sales, supply, and finance teams to ensure contract efficiency and compliance
  • Identify potential legal, regulatory, and commercial risks and propose proactive solutions
  • Support design and delivery of compliance and legal training programs for employees
  • Advise leadership and cross-functional teams on evolving legal trends, industry standards, and best practices
  • Work closely with internal teams including Commercial, Marketing, Product, and IT to support business initiatives while ensuring compliance and managing risk
  • Serve as key point of contact for external counsel on specialized matters
  • Communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to non-legal stakeholders

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer (LLB or equivalent) with admission to practice in a European jurisdiction
  • 4+ years of post-qualification experience in a corporate legal environment, ideally with exposure to privacy, technology, AdTech, or SaaS sectors
  • Strong expertise in commercial contracts, data protection laws, and corporate governance
  • Able to balance legal risk with commercial pragmatism
  • Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and communication skills in English (additional Spanish or other EU languages a plus)
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Collaborative mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach
  • High professional integrity and sound judgment
