Lead the enterprise architecture strategy for digital commerce, customer platforms, and data ecosystems to support doubling online revenue within five years. Develop scalable, secure, resilient, and performant technology ecosystems enabling commerce at scale, rapid innovation, exceptional customer experiences, data-driven insight, and operational excellence. Responsibilities include defining target-state architecture and multi-year roadmap, leading architecture across digital storefronts, commerce, order management, product information, payments, CRM, loyalty, marketing, and personalisation platforms. Define data architecture supporting real-time and batch processing, customer data platforms, advanced analytics, and AI-driven personalisation. Drive operational excellence through improved order fulfilment, inventory visibility, automation, monitoring, and resilience. Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure scalable, practical architecture aligned with agile delivery. Establish architecture governance ensuring compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory standards. Act as trusted advisor to executive leadership, translating technology decisions into business impact. Required experience includes extensive enterprise architecture in large-scale retail or e-commerce, expertise in cloud-native, API-first, microservices, event-driven, and composable commerce architectures, and integration with ERP, OMS, PIM, and supply chain systems. Desirable experience includes leading retail digital transformations, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), modern data platforms, CDPs, and AI analytics. What you'll do
- Define and own enterprise architecture strategy for digital commerce, customer platforms and data ecosystems
- Develop target-state architecture and multi-year technology roadmap aligned to revenue growth ambitions
- Ensure technology landscape supports scalability, resilience and performance at increased traffic and transaction volumes
- Establish architectural principles across cloud infrastructure, integration, data platforms, security and composable commerce
- Lead architecture across customer and commerce ecosystem including digital storefronts, commerce platforms, order management, product information management, payments, fraud and identity services, CRM, loyalty, marketing technology and personalisation tools
- Enable omnichannel retail experiences, marketplace and partner integrations, rapid experimentation and personalised customer journeys
- Define data architecture supporting digital, commercial and operational decision making including real-time and batch processing, customer data platforms, advanced analytics and AI-driven personalisation
- Define architecture supporting CRM and loyalty programmes including customer identity, loyalty platforms, campaign orchestration and personalised communications
- Drive architecture supporting operational excellence across digital and retail operations including order fulfilment, inventory visibility, automation, monitoring and operational resilience
- Promote platform architectures that increase engineering productivity, reliability and cost efficiency, powered by AI tooling
- Work closely with engineering and product teams to ensure architecture is practical, scalable and aligned with agile delivery
- Promote platform engineering, reusable services and automation
- Support adoption of modern architecture patterns such as API-first, event-driven, microservices, composable platforms and cloud-native infrastructure
- Establish and lead architecture governance and design authority across digital, data and customer platforms
- Ensure alignment with enterprise standards for security, privacy, regulatory compliance and resilience
- Provide architectural oversight across transformation programmes and major technology investments
- Enable innovation capability exploring future-state architecture to support growth pilots
- Act as trusted advisor to executive leadership on technology strategy
- Partner with leaders across digital, marketing, data, operations, merchandising and supply chain
- Translate complex technology decisions into clear business impact and commercial outcomes
Requirements
- Extensive experience as an Enterprise Architect or Principal Architect in large-scale retail, digital or e-commerce environment
- Proven experience designing enterprise technology architectures supporting high-volume digital commerce platforms
- Strong understanding of modern architecture patterns including cloud-native, API-first, microservices, event-driven, and composable commerce ecosystems
- Experience designing architectures across e-commerce, data and analytics, CRM, marketing, loyalty and customer engagement platforms
- Strong understanding of customer data, personalisation and marketing technologies
- Experience integrating digital platforms with ERP, OMS, PIM and supply chain systems
- Experience leading major retail digital transformation programmes (desirable)
- Experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud (desirable)
- Experience with cloud platforms AWS, Azure or GCP (desirable)
- Experience with modern data platforms, CDPs and AI-driven analytics (desirable)
- Strategic thinker able to translate business growth objectives into technology strategy
