Lead Software Engineer role at Digital Turbine in New York, NY (hybrid). Responsibilities include leading and mentoring software engineers, overseeing technical design and delivery of complex projects, defining technical requirements and best practices, conducting code reviews, collaborating with product and engineering leadership, managing project timelines and risks, and maintaining hands-on architecture and implementation. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years experience or equivalent, extensive software engineering and leadership experience, strong software architecture and system design skills, ability to set technical vision and strategy, excellent communication skills, and proven ownership of major product/platform technical health.

What you'll do

  • Guide and mentor a team of software engineers, overseeing the technical design, development, and delivery of complex software projects
  • Define technical requirements, architectural patterns, and engineering best practices for your product area or multiple teams
  • Conduct comprehensive code reviews, ensure adherence to coding standards and quality metrics, and drive continuous improvement in engineering practices
  • Collaborate with product management, engineering leadership, and other stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives, manage project timelines and resources, and mitigate technical risks
  • Maintain a hands-on role in architecture and implementation while enabling your team to execute effectively and grow

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and a minimum of 8 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience
  • Extensive experience in software engineering, including significant experience leading teams or large technical initiatives
  • Strong background in software architecture, system design, and highly scalable, resilient solutions
  • Ability to set technical vision and strategy, solve strategic and cross-cutting technical problems, and anticipate future challenges
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience representing engineering in high-level discussions with product and business leaders
  • Proven ownership of the technical health and success of a major product or platform, and a track record of developing and guiding senior engineers
