Full job description

Lead DevOps Engineer role to build and scale the backbone of a global real-time bidding platform. Responsibilities include developing automated provisioning pipelines for bare-metal servers, researching automation approaches, performing security monitoring, repairing hardware/software failures, applying OS patches and upgrades, maintaining data center equipment, performance tuning, and leading the infrastructure team. Requires minimum 8 years DevOps/system administration experience, 2+ years team lead experience, proficiency in Shell, Python, Java, SQL, Terraform/Ansible/Puppet/Chef, load balancing (HAProxy/Nginx), pipeline tools (Jenkins/Airflow), observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, InfluxDB), Unix/Linux, and a technical bachelor's degree. Kubernetes knowledge and Unix certification are advantages. Flexible to work rotational shifts. Fully remote work setup with career growth opportunities and budgets for home office and learning.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain automated provisioning pipelines (PXE, ZTP) to deploy bare-metal servers at scale across global data centers
  • Research and recommend innovative and automated approaches for system administration tasks
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify possible intrusions
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures, coordinating with impacted teams
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades regularly, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities
  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization
  • Act as a technical lead and trusted point of contact for the infrastructure team
  • Support mentoring and onboarding of engineers, improve team collaboration and communication
  • Partner closely with other tech teams to improve reliability, automation, monitoring, and incident response processes

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of DevOps, system administration/debugging experience
  • 2+ years of team lead/people management experience
  • Flexible to work in rotational shifts as part of the incident response team
  • Good knowledge of coding with Shell, Python, Java and SQL commands
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform or Ansible or Puppet/Chef for managing bare-metal configurations and automations
  • Strong understanding of L4/L7 load balancing (HAProxy/Nginx) and network performance tuning (TCP/IP stack optimization)
  • Good knowledge of pipeline/orchestration tools like Jenkins/Airflow
  • Good knowledge of observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, InfluxDB)
  • Good knowledge of Kubernetes is an added advantage
  • Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux
  • Bachelor degree with a technical major such as engineering or computer science
  • Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Unix is an added advantage
