Full job description

FreeWheel, a Comcast company, seeks a senior C++ Engineer for its Streaming Hub Team to design, build, and support a video advertising platform. The role involves developing forecasting, optimization, decisioning, and marketplace solutions powering ad decisioning and linear addressable products. Requires extensive experience in C/C++, database design, network programming, large system software, distributed and mission-critical systems, and project management. Responsibilities include leading software development, mentoring engineers, collaborating with cross-functional and global teams, maintaining documentation, monitoring performance, and supporting QA. Must have a Bachelor's degree and over 8 years of relevant experience. Salary range: $174,661.48 - $261,992.21. Position is full-time, located in New York, NY.

What you'll do

  • Design, build and support high-quality video advertising platform
  • Lead development and implementation of innovative software and web applications
  • Integrate new systems with existing infrastructure focusing on scalability, security, and performance
  • Mentor team members and provide technical training
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for application integration and best practices
  • Participate in or lead peer programming, design sprints, and prototyping sessions
  • Create, maintain, and ensure accessibility of comprehensive documentation
  • Monitor application performance metrics and guide enhancements
  • Provide expert technical advice and support to internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to meet testing standards
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in significant matters
  • Work nights and weekends as necessary
  • Produce technical specifications and determine operational feasibility
  • Write well-designed, testable, efficient code
  • Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures
  • Document and maintain software functionality
  • Tailor and deploy engineering tools, processes, and metrics
  • Support overall business and technically solve issues
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to align technical specifications with business needs
  • Lead and mentor software engineers with technical guidance and code reviews
  • Partner with global engineering, product, and operations teams

Requirements

  • Abundant experience with C/C++, DB design, and network programming
  • Abundant experience with large system software design and development
  • Abundant experience with distributed systems and mission-critical systems
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Advertising industry experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated expertise in problem-solving and technical innovation
  • Strong passion for learning/practicing new techniques
  • Ability to work closely with global teams and accept additional working time besides normal working hours
  • Bachelor’s Degree or above
  • At least 8 years of relevant work experience
