Full job description

Smadex is an ad-tech company processing over 4.5 million ad requests per second with sub-100ms response times. They seek a Junior Data Engineer passionate about data pipelines and performance challenges. The role involves designing, developing, and implementing data features for Machine Learning models, writing clean and testable code, monitoring production systems, and collaborating in an agile team environment. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, 1-2 years of software or data engineering experience, SQL, Python or Java knowledge, interest in Big Data and Machine Learning, and strong English communication skills. Bonus skills include Scala, key-value stores, AWS, Airflow, Big Data, and Spark. The tech stack includes Python, Scala, bash, Spark, MySQL, Redis, AWS, Jenkins, Docker, Airflow, Git, Jira, and Notion. The position is full-time, hybrid (2 days remote), located in Barcelona, Spain. What you'll do

  • Feature Ownership: Design, develop, and implement Data features for the Machine Learning models to use
  • Quality Assurance: Write clean, efficient, testable code and thoroughly test work locally and in a sophisticated staging environment
  • Operational Excellence: Monitor deployments and help ensure the stability, reliability and performance of production systems
  • Agile Collaboration: Collaborate with the team in an agile environment, participating in planning and reporting on progress
  • Implement complex data ingestion services following a 'you build it, you run it' philosophy
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical and architectural decisions

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • 1-2 years of experience in Software or Data engineering
  • SQL Knowledge
  • Python or Java knowledge
  • Interest in Big Data, Machine Learning and Data Engineering
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken)
