Full job description

Lead Tebex's development department of 15–20 developers, reporting to Head of Technology. Manage technical roadmap including Node.js pilot and platform re-architecture. Embed AI tools in workflows and mentor teams on AI efficiencies. Ensure delivery meets standards for stability, security, and performance. Coordinate urgent technical issues and deployments. Requires 3+ years senior leadership experience managing large teams, deep PHP/Laravel and Node.js/TypeScript expertise, experience in platform transitions, strong communication skills, and UK-based full-time work eligibility.

What you'll do

  • Lead and manage 15–20 developers across four teams, mentoring team leads and fostering high performance
  • Drive technical roadmap, oversee Node.js pilot program and platform re-architecture
  • Coordinate development projects, remove administrative bottlenecks to maximize focus
  • Lead AI-first development journey, embed AI tools and coach teams on AI efficiencies
  • Ensure development output meets standards for stability, security, and performance
  • Coordinate urgent technical issues and high-stakes deployments with clear communication

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a senior leadership role such as Head of Development or Engineering Manager
  • Proven track record managing 15–20+ developers and QA engineers
  • Deep hands-on experience with PHP/Laravel
  • Experience with Node.js/TypeScript
  • Previous involvement in a successful platform transition (language pivot, framework migration, or modular architecture shift)
  • Ability to maintain business continuity during major technical transitions
  • Deep understanding of AI-driven workflows and mentoring teams on AI integration
  • Expert-level ability to manage software delivery logistics, identify dependencies, and remove bottlenecks
  • Exceptional communication skills for leading change and managing stakeholder expectations
  • Based in the UK and eligible to work full-time
