The GL Payroll Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing monthly payroll entries, reconciling payroll journals and accruals, and ensuring alignment between HR data and the accounting system (SAP). The role involves managing payroll accounting for multiple countries across Americas, EMEA, and APAC. The manager leads a payroll team, organizes tasks, conducts regular meetings, and reports to VP Finance and Control. Responsibilities include controlling payroll proposals, preparing HR accruals, accounting for stock options and RSUs, performing month-end closing activities, maintaining SOX compliance, harmonizing payroll accounting processes, collaborating with finance teams, and supporting audits. Candidates must have at least five years of payroll accounting experience, accounting qualifications, SOX environment experience, SAP knowledge, strong Excel skills, and fluency in English. What you'll do
- Oversee posting of monthly payroll entries and reconcile payroll journals and accruals
- Ensure full reconciliation between HR information and accounting system (SAP)
- Manage accounting for all payroll related subjects
- Work closely with People departments across countries to optimize and standardize payroll integration
- Lead and organize payroll team tasks, conduct regular 1:1s, and ensure timely processing
- Report team activity to VP Finance and Control and propose process improvements
- Manage payroll accounting for companies in Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions
- Collaborate with Field Finance, FP&A, and Finance Corporate teams to meet deadlines and stakeholder needs
- Ensure delivery of SOX controls with quality and timeliness
- Maintain common documentation and clear role understanding within the team
- Weekly review and prioritization of team tasks
- Prepare and analyze KPIs and define action steps
- Control payroll proposals from People department daily
- Prepare HR accruals including bonus and holiday pay
- Account for stock options and RSU exercises
- Perform sanity checks on payroll and related items
- Prepare cash landing and cash forecast processes
- Review payroll journals and record accounting entries at month end closing
- Reconcile and document payroll-related Balance Sheet and P&L positions
- Analyze payroll-related balance sheet account movements
- Analyze major variances in social charge ratios
- Follow up on prior month issues with People Department
- Harmonize and standardize payroll accounting across all Criteo entities
- Work with IIPAY Project team on global payroll provider implementation
- Integrate new countries or acquisitions into standard processes
- Prepare payroll-related audit requests and analyses quarterly and yearly
- Handle other ad-hoc projects and tasks as appropriate
Requirements
- Minimum five years practical accounting experience including specialization in payroll accounting for both French and foreign entities
- Accounting Qualification (Business School / DSCG)
- Experience of working in a SOX Environment
- Good working knowledge of SAP
- Experience of working in a fast moving, complex international environment
- Fluent English – any other languages a plus
