Merkle, a dentsu company, is seeking a junior UX/UI Designer with 1-3 years experience to develop innovative digital user interfaces and applications. The role involves collaborating with CX strategists, designers, and developers to create accessible, intuitive, and consistent digital experiences. Responsibilities include designing prototypes, responsive layouts, and contributing to design systems. Candidates should have a degree in Design or related fields, knowledge of UX principles, experience with Figma, Miro, and Agile environments, and strong communication skills. The position is full-time, hybrid based in Lisbon, Portugal, with no visa sponsorship. What you'll do
- Develop unique digital user interfaces and applications for reputable clients
- Transfer visions and ideas into working design concepts and implement independently
- Work on complex problems in interdisciplinary teams with software developers, consultants, and researchers
- Monitor projects from ideation through implementation and beyond
- Present and discuss concepts and designs with colleagues and clients
- Collaborate closely with other UX/UI designers to brainstorm concepts, sketch ideas, and create low- and high-fidelity prototypes
- Design accessible, intuitive, consistent, and delightful digital experiences with strong attention to detail and pixel-perfect execution
- Work with designers and developers to create responsive layouts including interactive states, motion, and animation
- Contribute to and work within design systems ensuring consistency and scalability across products
Requirements
- Passion for digital creation and expertise in interface design, interaction design, and usability
- Completed degree in Design, Interaction Design, Service Design, HCI, Computer Science, or comparable qualification
- 1-3 years of initial work experience in conceptualizing and designing digital products and applications, preferably in an agency environment
- Creative and analytical thinking with ability to translate complex systems into compelling visual designs
- Basic knowledge of core UX principles and methodologies (usability, accessibility, information architecture, inclusive design)
- Experience with industry-standard tools such as Figma, Miro, and other prototyping and collaboration tools
- Good understanding of UI design principles, interaction design, and responsive design best practices
- Hands-on experience building, maintaining, and contributing to design systems
- Experience across B2B, B2C, and e-commerce projects
- Experience working closely with development teams in Agile environments
- Ability to leverage AI tools to support and enhance daily design workflows
- Passion for staying up to date with latest UX/UI trends, tools, and technologies
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Comfortable collaborating within cross-functional teams
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
