Full job description

Engineering Manager role at Smartly's Media Engineering group to lead the team developing Smartly's TikTok product integration. Technologies used include Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, Kubernetes, and React. Responsibilities include leading a fullstack team for end-to-end channel integration delivery, coaching team members, fostering technical excellence, and solving technical blockers. Requirements include experience as a people leader, full software lifecycle experience in high-availability environments, agile development knowledge, user-focused mindset, hands-on technical guidance, and ability to work onsite in Helsinki three days a week.

What you'll do

  • Lead and facilitate an autonomous Fullstack team responsible for end-to-end delivery of channel integration
  • Champion team member growth through coaching, regular 1:1s, and clear personal development planning
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence
  • Identify blockers and tackle ambitious technical problems
  • Ensure the team delivers the right things at the right time with high quality and clarity of purpose

Requirements

  • Experienced people leader with proven ability in building and leading high-performing teams
  • Experience throughout the full software life-cycle in an environment with high-availability demands and active user-base
  • Experience in various agile development practices and pragmatism to know acceptable tradeoffs
  • Empathic and user-focused mentality with deep care about product experience
  • Comfortable being hands-on to guide the team on technical decisions, system design and best engineering practices
  • Ability to work from Helsinki office three days a week
