Full job description

Engineering Manager role at Smartly leading a fullstack team building AI-driven workflows on core product. Responsibilities include team leadership, coaching, development planning, and removing obstacles. Requires experience leading high-performing teams, full software lifecycle knowledge, building large-scale web applications, agile practices, delivering feedback, empathy for users, and hands-on development skills. Must work on-site in Mexico City office 3 days per week. Tech stack includes NodeJS, TypeScript, React, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka.

What you'll do

  • Build and lead an autonomous Fullstack development team
  • Facilitate the team at team level and enable them
  • Care about team members' growth and development
  • Tackle ambitious technical problems and contribute to Engineering culture

Requirements

  • Experienced people leader with proven ability in building and leading high-performing teams
  • Experience throughout the full software life-cycle in an environment with multiple teams
  • Built and maintained large-scale, high-availability web applications with an active and growing user base
  • Experience in various agile development practices with pragmatism on tradeoffs and focus on delivery
  • Ability to deliver constructive feedback that leads to meaningful changes and growth
  • Empathy and user-focused mentality, understanding users’ motivations and frustrations
  • Skilled developer, hands-on with coaching including code reviews and pair programming
  • Able to work on-site at Mexico City office 3 days per week
