Full job description
Smartly is hiring a Senior Fullstack Engineer focused 90% on backend for their Benchmarks and Ad Studies team. The role involves building and evolving data-intensive backend services and APIs, maintaining data ingestion pipelines, designing scalable and reliable data models and architectures, and working on distributed systems. Candidates should have strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Redis, Ruby on Rails, Sidekiq, PostgreSQL, and familiarity with Kafka, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP, and distributed data-processing systems. The role requires 5-10 years of experience building complex backend systems, strong software engineering fundamentals, and the ability to own technical problems and influence architecture. The position is full-time, hybrid with one day per week onsite in Mexico City. Strong professional experience building backend systems with Node.js, TypeScript, or comparable modern backend technologies
Experience designing and operating robust, complex, distributed applications in production
Strong understanding of APIs, databases, data modeling, asynchronous processing, and backend performance
Experience working with systems that ingest, transform, or process significant amounts of data
Ability to reason about scalability, reliability, concurrency, failure modes, and system performance
Strong software engineering fundamentals and an ability to make pragmatic architectural decisions
Experience taking ownership of technically ambiguous problems and driving them toward production-ready solutions
Ability to contribute to architecture and technical direction while operating effectively as a senior individual contributor
Clear communication and collaboration skills across engineering and product teams
Ability to work from Mexico City office one day per week
