Liftoff seeks a Director of Product Management for ML Platform to lead product strategy and execution for machine learning infrastructure. This senior leadership role requires hands-on involvement in backend infrastructure and mentoring two product managers. Responsibilities include owning the ML Platform roadmap, driving platform initiatives, collaborating with ML teams and Finance, establishing KPIs, and evolving product management practices. Requirements include 8+ years in product management with 3+ years in ML infrastructure, 2 years management experience, technical fluency in ML infrastructure concepts, strong stakeholder management, and a relevant bachelor's degree (master's preferred). Compensation ranges from $239,000 to $320,000 depending on location. The role is remote with options to work near US hubs or in approved states. What you'll do

  • Own the holistic product strategy, vision, and roadmap for the ML Platform
  • Lead, mentor, and develop two IC Product Managers
  • Drive execution of major platform initiatives including batch processing infrastructure, infrastructure cost visibility, R&D strategy, and platform hardening for reliability and uptime
  • Partner closely with multiple ML teams to understand constraints, dependencies, and requirements, translating them into actionable engineering specifications and prioritized roadmaps
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance to set and track infrastructure cost targets and with Product Managers across adjacent areas to align on shared platform needs
  • Establish and monitor platform KPIs around reliability, cost efficiency, and model enablement, driving continuous improvement
  • Architect and evolve the product function for ML Platform, establishing scalable practices, frameworks, and ways of working
  • Serve as the primary product stakeholder voice for no-fault systems and new model type support

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in product management
  • At least 3 years focused on ML infrastructure, backend systems, or data platform products
  • 2 years of management experience
  • Proven experience as a player/coach
  • Deep technical fluency in ML infrastructure concepts: model training pipelines, feature stores, batch and streaming data systems, distributed computing
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Experience collaborating with Finance or business operations teams on infrastructure cost management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (Master's preferred)
