Full job description

Kevel is hiring a Director of Product Design to lead and scale the design practice. This full-time remote role involves setting design vision, standards, and operations while actively contributing to product design. Responsibilities include evolving design processes, defining UX/UI strategy, mentoring designers, managing hiring, overseeing design tools, and ensuring accessibility standards. The role requires 10+ years of product design experience with 3+ years in leadership, proficiency in Figma and AI design tools, strong user research skills, and experience in B2B SaaS or enterprise products. What you'll do

  • Evolve design function operating model, rituals, and standards
  • Define and champion cohesive design vision across product lines
  • Set UX/UI strategy and design direction in partnership with CPO
  • Serve as voice of design in product and engineering planning
  • Define and track UX metrics to demonstrate design impact
  • Mentor, coach, and set direction for design team
  • Own design hiring plan and grow the team
  • Manage design toolchain, platforms, and vendor relationships
  • Establish accessibility and quality standards
  • Lead end-to-end design for key product surfaces
  • Conduct user research and translate insights into design decisions
  • Build and maintain scalable design system and documentation
  • Implement AI tools to accelerate production and maintain components
  • Facilitate workshops, design sprints, and stakeholder reviews
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and customer-facing teams

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product design/UX/UI experience, including 3+ years in strategic or leadership roles
  • Experience building or scaling a design practice
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating systems thinking and refined craft
  • Experience partnering with senior leadership and influencing product direction
  • Proficiency in Figma and prototyping tools
  • Fluency with AI tools in modern design practice
  • Deep understanding of user research methodologies
  • Experience mentoring designers and growing teams
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and bringing structure as practice scales
  • Clear communication skills to articulate design decisions and business impact
  • Experience designing for B2B SaaS, enterprise platforms, or data-dense products
  • 3+ years leading designers or design functions
  • Experience leading design in distributed, multi-timezone organizations
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design
  • Strong command of interaction design and information architecture for complex products
  • Passion for creating highly functional and delightful products
