Full job description
Data Scientist role based in New York, NY with a hybrid schedule (Monday and Friday remote, Tuesday to Thursday in-office). The position is for candidates transitioning from academia to industry, requiring Python fluency, a PhD in a STEM field with computational focus, strong mathematical and statistical skills, and familiarity with LLMs and classical machine learning. Responsibilities include analyzing complex marketplace data, developing scalable statistical algorithms and predictive models for real-time decision making in a high-frequency ad marketplace, collaborating with product managers and engineers on KPIs, A/B testing, and causal inference, and applying academic problem-solving skills to business challenges. The role offers a base salary range of $125,000 to $135,000, annual performance bonuses, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, time off, parental leave, 401k with match, and wellness programs.
What you'll do
- Transition from academia to industry
- Make sense of complex marketplace data at webscale and perform noncommoditized data work
- Develop scalable statistical algorithms and predictive models to support real-time decision making in a high frequency ad marketplace
- Collaborate cross functionally with product managers and engineers to define KPIs, evaluate A/B tests, perform causal inference, and use data to inform product decisions
- Apply creative problem solving skills learned in academia to business problems
- Work in a collaborative team environment with high personal accountability
Requirements
- Python fluency
- PhD in a STEM field with a computational focus
- Mathematical and statistical fluency including calculus, linear algebra, statistics, and numerical analysis
- Familiarity with both LLMs and classical machine learning techniques
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
