Full job description

Smadex, a leading ad-tech company in Barcelona, seeks a mid-level Data Scientist for its Machine Learning team. The role involves analyzing and improving core ML models (Deep Neural Networks, Gradient Boosting) in a high-frequency auction environment. Responsibilities include deep algorithm analysis, developing model monitoring tools, designing A/B experiments, and system optimization. Requirements: degree in quantitative field (Math, Stats, Physics, CS, Data Science), proficiency in Python and SQL, strong statistics and probability knowledge, and familiarity with ML architectures. Bonus: knowledge in Game Theory, Statistical Physics, Bayesian Inference, discrete math, and graph theory. The position is full-time, hybrid (2 days remote), located in Barcelona. What you'll do

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of algorithms behavior in the live auctioned environment to understand how algorithms interact with market dynamics
  • Collaborate on the development and automation of advanced model performance monitoring tools
  • Develop tooling to help the team understand why the models make specific predictions, moving beyond 'black box' implementations
  • Design and analyze experiments, A/B testing, to validate hypotheses regarding bidding strategies and model improvements
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and propose architectural or feature enhancements to resolve non-optimal performance at the system level

Requirements

  • Strong fundamental education (BSc, MSc, or PhD) in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or Data Science
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Deep understanding of Statistics and Probability theory
  • Familiarity with core ML architectures - Gradient Boosting, Deep Neural Networks
