Full job description

Join Vibe's Data Platform team responsible for the entire data backbone including storage, batch compute, and reporting stack. Manage petabyte-scale data and 500,000+ messages per second. Own systems end to end from stakeholder communication to schema design and incident management. Responsibilities include building and maintaining data storage and compute tools (Spark, DuckDB, Trino, ClickHouse), orchestrating batch and real-time jobs, optimizing performance and cost, on-call incident response, and collaborating cross-functionally with Product, ML, and Finance teams. Requirements: 5+ years experience in production data platforms at scale, expertise in lakehouse storage and compute technologies, experience with modern orchestrators, on-call and incident response experience, and strong communication skills. What you'll do

  • Own tooling and services for storing and accessing petabyte-scale event data
  • Efficiently compute on data using Spark, DuckDB, Trino at real scale
  • Build in-app reporting on an OLAP DB (ClickHouse)
  • Orchestrate jobs and move data using batch or real-time approaches
  • Identify and fix pipelines or queries costing the most time or money
  • Instrument systems to catch cost and latency regressions before incidents
  • Anticipate scaling limits before outages
  • Carry on-call and lead incident response for owned systems
  • Write and maintain alerts and runbooks
  • Build tooling, conventions, or data contracts to improve team speed
  • Translate ambiguous requests from Product, ML, and Finance into concrete deliverables
  • Push back on stakeholders when appropriate
  • Set technical contract with Front team for reporting UI

Requirements

  • 5+ years building and operating production data platforms at real scale, not analytics or BI-adjacent work
  • Deep lakehouse experience from both a storage angle (Iceberg, Delta, or Hudi) and a compute angle (Spark, DuckDB, or Trino)
  • Production experience with a modern orchestrator (Dagster, Airflow, or Prefect)
  • A specific, explainable story about a pipeline or query you made measurably faster or cheaper, and why it worked
  • On-call and incident response experience, including alerts or runbooks you actually wrote
  • Comfort adapting your communication for different audiences
