Smadex, a Barcelona-based Demand Side Platform, is hiring a senior Creative Technologist (Playable Ads Developer) to build high-performing interactive and playable mobile and CTV ad experiences. Reporting to the Director of Creative Solutions, the role involves developing scalable ad templates, designing mobile-first UX for playable ads, optimizing for file size and platform constraints, defining QA processes, debugging SDK and ad delivery issues, automating tests, and collaborating cross-functionally with Creative Design, Ad Ops, and Product teams. Candidates must have 3-7+ years of experience in creative technology for mobile interactive ads, a strong portfolio of playable ads with positive KPI results, expertise in frontend technologies and mobile playable tools (e.g. Phaser, Unity), experience shipping creatives end-to-end, and client-facing commercial awareness. Good to have skills include 3D mobile web experiences, SIMID for CTV, mobile E2E testing, and programmatic ad serving knowledge. The position is full-time, hybrid (2 days remote), located in Barcelona, and requires legal work authorization in Spain. What you'll do
- Build, architect, and extend high-performing playable ad experiences and interactive creatives for mobile and CTV platforms
- Translate creative concepts including complex game mechanics into functional prototypes and scalable ad templates
- Design mobile-first UX patterns specific to playable ads, including in-ad interaction logic, end-card flows, and call-to-action placement
- Optimize playable ads for constraints such as file size budgets, load times, device/OS compatibility, and platform-specific compliance
- Define comprehensive test matrices and QA checklists covering OS versions, device performance, cross-platform publisher environments, and connection conditions
- Debug complex issues related to SDK integration, third-party trackers, ad delivery, and in-ad game logic
- Introduce automation (test harnesses, validation scripts, pre-flight checks) to reduce production risk
- Act as connective tissue between Creative Design, Software and Services, Ad Ops, and Product on playable and interactive ad initiatives
- Define clear workflows and handoffs to reduce bottlenecks and accelerate time-to-launch
- Support high-stakes client conversations with technical confidence regarding feasibility, timelines, QA expectations, and measurement plans
- Partner with Product on tooling and capability gaps needed to scale playable ad output
- Build and maintain a playable creative repository including winning game patterns, guidelines, specs, QA standards, learnings, and case studies
- Share insights across teams through internal sessions, documentation, and repeatable templates
Requirements
- 3-7+ years in creative technology making interactive ads for mobile
- Strong portfolio of playable ads delivering positive performance against advertiser KPI
- Demonstrated expertise in frontend technologies and libraries for complex interactive experiences/game mechanics under tight constraints
- Hands-on experience with mobile playable tools (e.g. Phaser/Pixie, Unity/Cocos export, Playable Factory or platform-specific tools)
- Experience shipping and supporting creatives end-to-end (QA, troubleshooting, mobile ad delivery)
- Ability to translate performance/measurement needs into clear event tracking and experimentable variants
- Commercial awareness and client facing experience in the App AU ecosystem
- Good to have: experience building 3D interactive experiences on mobile web
- Good to have: experience building SIMID for CTV interactive
- Good to have: proven cross-functional collaboration skills and comfort working in fast-paced environments
- Good to have: deep experience with mobile E2E testing for ads (various device/OS combinations, ad verification, and publisher SDKs)
- Good to have: familiarity with programmatic concepts and practicalities of ad serving & tracking in mobile in-app/playable workflows
- Good to have: experience optimizing graphics performance and minimizing asset size for mobile web environments
- Must have legal permit to work in Spain (no visa sponsorship)
