Full job description

The Trade Desk is hiring a Business Development Director to lead and grow commercial relationships with strategic Canadian advertisers, primarily in CPG and Retail. The role requires 10+ years of sales experience in digital advertising, strong programmatic knowledge, and a proven track record of exceeding revenue targets. Responsibilities include managing a quota-carrying book of business, developing media and investment strategies, negotiating Joint Business Plans, providing thought leadership, and collaborating with internal teams. Familiarity with Salesforce and contract lifecycle management tools is required. The position offers a competitive salary range of $103,800 to $190,300 CAD, stock-based compensation eligibility, and variable incentives. Location: Toronto.

What you'll do

  • Lead and grow commercial relationships with strategic Canadian advertisers
  • Own a quota-carrying book of business with accountability for revenue growth and pipeline development
  • Translate client business objectives into actionable media and investment strategies
  • Build and negotiate executive-level Joint Business Plans
  • Provide thought leadership on media buying, data, and measurement approaches
  • Serve as a senior trusted advisor to key client decision-makers
  • Partner with internal client-facing teams to ensure seamless execution
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to bring new inventory, data partnerships, and measurement solutions to market

Requirements

  • 10+ years of sales experience in digital advertising
  • Strong knowledge of programmatic advertising and the modern media ecosystem
  • Proven quota-carrier with a consistent track record of exceeding revenue targets
  • Experience working with or within a CPG or Retail brand preferred
  • Experience at a DSP or digital advertising platform
  • Consultative selling skills, comfortable engaging senior client stakeholders
  • Strong communication, executive presence, and organizational skills
  • Ability to influence and align internal stakeholders
  • Experience leading client conversations and negotiating commercial agreements
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and contract lifecycle tools
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Legal, Product, Marketing, and Inventory teams
