Media.net is seeking a mid-level Data & Spam Analyst for a hybrid role combining data analysis and spam/fraud detection in AdTech. Responsibilities include managing business reporting, verifying revenue accuracy, analyzing data impacting business, delivering reports, monitoring ad traffic for fraud, investigating suspicious activities, developing detection rules, collaborating with teams, and documenting fraud cases. Required skills include proficiency in SQL, Excel, Python, BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker), ETL processes, and strong attention to detail. Preferred experience includes statistical tools (SAS, SPSS, R), fraud detection methodologies, big data tools (Hive, Spark, Presto), advertising platforms (Google Ads, DSPs, SSPs, Exchanges), and machine learning for fraud detection. Candidates should have 3-5 years experience in data analytics or fraud analysis within AdTech or related fields and a relevant bachelor's degree. What you'll do

  • Manage business reporting for multiple teams and monitor performance against KPIs
  • Verify the integrity and accuracy of revenue reporting across systems
  • Track and analyze critical data points influencing core business activities and escalate insights to stakeholders
  • Deliver ad-hoc reports and presentations for urgent business needs ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Execute daily, weekly, and monthly reporting processes to drive operational excellence
  • Monitor ad traffic, user behavior, and system logs to detect anomalies, fraudulent activity, and spam patterns
  • Investigate suspicious activity including invalid clicks, bot traffic, ad stacking, cloaking, and impression fraud
  • Develop and refine rules, filters, and detection mechanisms to mitigate fraud and protect advertising integrity
  • Collaborate with product, compliance, and engineering teams to strengthen spam/fraud detection systems
  • Document fraud/spam cases with clear evidence and provide insights to prevent recurrence and improve platform trust
  • Stay up to date with emerging spam and fraud trends in the AdTech ecosystem and recommend proactive defense strategies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in Data Analytics, Spam/Fraud Analysis, or related roles within AdTech, digital marketing, or internet technology companies
  • Proficiency in SQL and Excel for querying, reporting, and data manipulation
  • Familiarity with Python for automation, anomaly detection, and data processing
  • Skilled in creating dashboards and visualizations using BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of ETL processes and ability to manage master data across multiple sources
  • Keen attention to detail with the ability to analyze numbers, spot patterns, and identify anomalies
  • Strong communication skills to present insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced AdTech environment
  • Proactive problem-solver with an investigative mindset and high ethical standards
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with product, finance, engineering, and compliance teams
  • Experience with statistical and analytical tools (SAS, SPSS, R) is a plus
  • Knowledge of fraud/spam detection methodologies in digital advertising is a plus
  • Familiarity with big data tools (Hive, Spark, Presto) is a plus
  • Understanding of advertising platforms (Google Ads, DSPs, SSPs, Exchanges) is a plus
  • Exposure to machine learning models for fraud detection is a plus
