Full job description

Smartly seeks a Brand Design Intern for a full-time summer internship in Chicago with a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office). Responsibilities include creating digital illustrations, graphics, and visual assets supporting brand and marketing initiatives; assisting with social media creative and campaign materials; supporting presentations and visual storytelling in Google Slides and Figma; collaborating to maintain brand consistency; contributing ideas in brainstorming and design reviews; managing multiple assignments with attention to detail; incorporating feedback; and partnering with marketing and brand teams. Requirements: current college student in graphic design, visual communication, marketing, or related field; experience with digital illustration and design; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma, and Google Slides; understanding of social media platforms and content strategy; previous internship experience; strong time management, organizational, communication skills; collaborative and self-motivated attitude. Paid $20/hour, approximately 30 hours/week from June 16 to August 20, 2026. Lunch provided Tuesday through Thursday.

What you'll do

  • Create digital illustrations, graphics, and visual assets that support Smartly’s brand and marketing initiatives
  • Assist in developing social media creative and campaign materials across multiple platforms
  • Support presentations, templates, and visual storytelling in Google Slides and Figma
  • Collaborate with the Brand team to maintain consistency across visual identity and brand guidelines
  • Contribute ideas and creative concepts during brainstorming sessions and design reviews
  • Manage multiple assignments and timelines while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Incorporate feedback thoughtfully and iterate on creative work based on team direction
  • Partner with teammates across marketing and brand projects to support day-to-day creative execution

Requirements

  • Current college student pursuing a degree in graphic design, visual communication, marketing, or a related field
  • Experience creating digital illustrations and visual design work through coursework, internships, freelance, or personal projects
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Experience using Figma and Google Slides
  • Understanding of social media platforms and basic content strategy
  • Previous internship experience in a creative, marketing, or related environment
  • Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Comfortable asking questions, seeking guidance, and collaborating with teammates
  • Self-motivated, curious, humble, and eager to contribute where needed
  • Able to take direction well and apply feedback constructively
