Full job description

OpenX is seeking a senior software engineer to work on their core data platform handling billions of ad requests daily and processing over 1PB of data. The role involves designing large-scale data processing systems, collaborating with product teams to define requirements, and improving application efficiency, scalability, and stability. Candidates must have 8+ years of experience in Java, Scala, or Python development, 3+ years in Big Data systems, and expertise with tools such as Apache Spark, BigQuery, Airflow, and cloud platforms (GCP or AWS). Knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps practices, and database design (RDBMS/NoSQL) is required. The position offers a full-time employment contract or B2B option, flexible working hours with remote work possibility, and various benefits including health care, bonuses, and training opportunities. The job location is Krakow, Poland, with all interview stages conducted remotely.

What you'll do

  • Design large-scale data processing systems
  • Work with Product team to drive requirements and own projects end-to-end
  • Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of applications
  • Think long-term and avoid temporary fixes
  • Identify and remove unnecessary complexity

Requirements

  • 8+ years experience in Java, Scala or Python development
  • 3+ years of experience in Big Data systems development
  • Experience building complex data pipelines, including SQL-based transformations with tools such as dbt or Dataform
  • Experience with large-scale data processing using distributed frameworks such as Apache Spark
  • Expertise using BigQuery or other data warehouses including performance tuning and monitoring
  • Experience with data orchestration tools like Airflow, including extending pipelines and troubleshooting
  • Cloud experience with Google Cloud Platform or AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker
  • Understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring and other DevOps practices
  • Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and platforms
  • Experience with database system design, RDBMS and/or NoSQL
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, physics, or related field (Master’s degree is a plus)
  • Communicative in Polish and English
