Full job description

The Trade Desk seeks an Associate General Counsel, Privacy & Product, to provide legal counsel on privacy and product matters in digital advertising. The role involves collaborating with product and business teams to identify and mitigate legal risks throughout product development. Candidates must have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school, be a member in good standing of a state bar, and have 8+ years of legal experience, preferably with knowledge of digital advertising law, privacy laws, and technology. Responsibilities include maintaining knowledge of global privacy laws, advising on compliance, educating stakeholders on privacy issues, and improving legal processes. What you'll do

  • Collaborate with product and business teams from initial stages of product development to identify legal risks and provide risk-mitigation counseling
  • Maintain up-to-date understanding of global privacy laws and advertising technology
  • Work closely with internal business partners to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Educate employees, partners, and clients about current and emerging privacy issues
  • Collaborate with legal and business teams to improve processes

Requirements

  • J.D. degree from ABA accredited law school
  • Must be a member in good standing of an applicable state bar
  • 8+ years of legal experience
  • Familiarity with legal issues impacting digital advertising industry including self-regulatory guidelines, privacy and data governance issues and legislation, consumer protection, and global privacy laws & regulations
  • Technology savvy
  • Experience advising on advertising technology matters preferred
  • Detailed understanding of US state privacy laws preferred
  • Product review experience preferred
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical writing skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Ability to provide practical, business-friendly advice
  • Strong work ethic and accountability
  • Collaborative work style and ability to build consensus
